GO KOBE: The Next Kitchen 2023  Demo Day

On July 14, 2020, the Keihanshin region (Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe) was selected as a "Global Hub City" under the "Beyond Limits. Unlock Our Potential. - Strategy for Forming a World-Class Startup Ecosystem" promoted by the Cabinet Office. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Hyogo Prefecture, and Kobe City have joined forces to consolidate efforts to globalize the startup ecosystem in the Keihanshin region and generate a social impact as a springboard toward achieving the SDGs.

As part of this effort, a tandem project "GO KOBE: The Next Kitchen 2023 ~A Good Taste of Sustainability ~" has been underway to promote business matching between European food tech startups and Japanese companies since September 2022. Nearly 50 food-tech startups applied from across Europe and after weeks of careful reviews, 6 startups are selected and they are all ready to come to Kobe City.

On the Demo Day, participating startups - 6 from Europe and 4 from Japan - present pitches about their business models. Corporate partners can then connect with the startups to find technologies or services that could help with their innovation efforts. For the startups, this is an opportunity to work with a variety of major corporations and create new business partnerships.
