Next Kitchen 2026 recap: Day 1

The 4-day Next Kitchen 2026 program has come to a close, and it has been an incredibly inspiring few days! To recap the journey, let’s go back to Day 1 of Next Kitchen 2026 | Welcome to Japan.

We kicked off Next Kitchen 2026 by bringing our 10 international foodtech startups to Awaji Island, setting the tone for the days ahead.

The focus of the first day was understanding how business is done in Japan: from decision-making structures and communication styles to the role of public institutions and long-term partnerships. These conversations are essential for any startup seriously considering the Japanese market.

The day was complemented by local food and wellness experiences. It was the perfect way to begin a program built around learning, openness, and mutual understanding.
